Description

5th Anniversary Gala of the 1984/5 Miners' Strike at Manchester Town Hall on 4th March 1989. Stalls and displays are set up in the corridors of the Town Hall, and include Ruth and Eddie Frow manning their bookstall - they briefly speak about the stall and the displays. The displays include historical documents, photos of the strike and other images, including Nelson Mandela. Several interviews with miners reflecting on the strike and the current situation. Issues of privatisation, pit closures, need for unity between unions. Interview with Ian Brown from the recently formed EPIU - Electrical and Plumbing Industrial Union. A Kent miner is interviewed about what's happened since the end of strike and talks of the need for a united front of unions.
