Description |
Unedited footage of Higher Mill in Helmshore, shot in July 1972, for inclusion in a BBC 'Chronicle' programme, shown as part of the 'Industrial Grand Tour of Great Britain' series. Includes interviews with an elderly gentleman (probably an ex-employee) sat next to the mill pond and a woman sitting inside the main mill building. Also features Derek Pilkington demonstrating the use of a spinning wheel; a hand powered spinning mule and a small weaving loom driven by a line shaft. Includes a shot of Derek Pilkington 'kissing the shuttle'. [There is no final edit of the finished programme see 1993 - 2001 for related material]. |
