Description

Begins by briefly touching on reasons for the canal's construction, then concentrates on the means by which the Manchester Ship Canal is an efficient transporter of a great variety of cargoes. Depicts cargo handling equipment and storage facilities along the canal, and closeness to good road and rail communications. Reflects international nature of trade.
