Description

A film made for the admiralty about the danger of nitrate film - a projectionist is overcome by fumes and taken to hospital when he neglects to supervise the projector and the film catches fire. The highly inflammable nature of nitrate film is demonstrated by setting fire to some and showing the ineffectiveness of a variety of fire extinguishers. A modern, safe projection box is demonstrated and also instructions to be observed by an operator in the safe handling, splicing etc.of film - projectionists are shown ignoring these and the resulting disasters are dealt with, the point being made that operators are generally to blame for any fires.
