Description |
Scenes from the 1954 Manchester Grammar School trekking holiday in the Alps. The film opens with scenes of the cliffs at Dover, and then we see the teachers and pupils on a boat heading across the Channel. In the next scenes they sit outside a cafe in France before boarding a small steam train. The steam train takes them up into the Alps where we see them unloading their bags. We see the boys at camp, they play ball games, pitch tents, prepare, cook and distribute food, wash their clothes and shave. We also see one of the teachers treating the boys with blistered feet, there are close up shots of his treatments. We see the boys trekking in the mountains. There are lots of shots of dramatic mountain scenery and close up shots of Alpine flowers. |
