Description

Event at the 5th Anniversary Gala of the 1984/5 Miners' Strike at Manchester Town Hall on 4th March 1989. Second part of the Victimisation Workshop with victimised miner, Dennis Pennington, telling his story - he was charged with damage to a motor vehicle and was given three months in Strangeways.
Contributions from the floor include discussion of a case in the USA and media coverage of victimised workers which is often biased and inadequate. Raises the issue of a lack of a Bill of Rights and defence of human rights. Need for organisational forms of fighting back, much more exposure of victimisation and highlights a case in South Africa - Moses Myseko, the issue of Broadwater Farm, and NALGO's (National Association of Local Government Officers) support for anti-deportation cases.

[Catalogued as part of 'Revitalising the Regions' a Screen Heritage UK project, 2011]
