Description

Video documenting the World Record attempt by the Lloyd Hotel Bowling Club for the longest game of outdoor bowls from 6pm on October 25 2008, to 5pm on November 1. The club aims to play for 168 hours in order to beat the current record of 105 hours. Begins with an introduction and apology from the film-maker (his camera stopped worked 10 seconds before the end of the record breaking match). The match begins at the South West Manchester Bowling Club's ground in Chorlton, with interviews with players and members intercut with the action. Close-up of the clock recording the 168 hours needed. There are views of the players eatuing, sleeping and getting massages during the attempt, and there is a celebrity night during the game, featuring actor Michael Le Vell, former Manchester City player and manager Tony Book, Dr Chris Steele from This Morning, and UK champion bowler Gary Ellis. The record is finally broken, and they raised over £39,000 for various charities.
