Description

Family scenes from the Leach family, mainly focusing on Emily. The film opens with scenes from Emily's christening party, a small family gathering in the sitting room. Emily opens her presents, aided by a little boy called Thomas, and then they play with her new spinning top. We see her cake being cut. We then see a series of small family gatherings throughout the later part of 1999, they all take place in the family home. In December we see Emily hanging up her stocking on Christmas Eve, and opening her presents on Christmas Day. In January 2000 we see Emily's first birthday, another small family party which takes place at home. Emily opens her presents and there is a buffet. Thomas is there again to help Emily open her presents, and baby Joseph looks on. We then have scenes from the demolition of a block of flats, a crowd gathers and waits expectantly until the flats are quickly demolished. There are more domestic, family scenes throughout the year 2000, All featuring Emily, her parents and grandparents and taking place in the family home and in the garden. Finally in August 2000 we see scenes from a family holiday where they visit the beach, a park and zoo. They play crazy golf and ride on a motor boat. In the final scenes we see Emily building sandcastles.
