Description

Rushes from the film 'The Bells of Colne' (see 6964) showing bell ringing at St Bartholomew's Church in Colne. Includes shots of the bell tower, (belfry) an interview with bell ringer Jean Barnes (side shots)- she talks about the history of bell ringing, English and continental variations and the benefits of ringing as a form of mental and physical exercise. Bell ringer Bill Heaton is seen waking along into the church, up a narrow staircase to the bell tower and giving an interview about the history of the Colne bells. Includes exterior shots of St Bartholomew's Church and high angle views from rooftops looking down on the town of Colne.
