Description |
A visit to a Shropshire farm in the spring, we see a farmer ploughing a field with a tractor and later with a horse-drawn plough. Sheep, lambs and cattle can be seen in the fields. In the summer, the family enjoy a picnic in the field together. In the next scene, farmers cut hay and stack it on a horse-drawn cart. A young boy can be seen helping the farmers, according to the film intertitles he was an evacuee who didn't want to go back to London. After feeding the cattle, cows are brought into the farm shed for milking. In September it is harvesting time, a farmer drives a tractor pulling a binder. Women and children pick crab apples. Farmers stack the hay in fields. In Autumn, we see the threshing process using a steam engine. In the orchard, the family pick various fruits. In the damson orchard, a man climbs a tree and shakes the branches knocking the fruit to the ground. The group then collect the fruit in their baskets but leave some for the pigs to enjoy. |
