Description

Rushes from Pendle Movie Makers Millennium 2000 project showing civic and mayoral events around the Pendle area.

Part One:
Scenes show an Eid Millennium Party organised by the Faisalabad Association with children singing and reading on stage, people gathered for the launch of Pendle Oral History Project- celebrating 50 years of Pakistanis in Pendle and for a public consultation meeting to discuss a village bypass. Mayoral events include a visit to 100 year-old Ivy Meyers at Walverdale Home for the Elderly and greeting guests at the Mayor's Civic Charit Dinner Dance. Local Elections around Pendle show exterior shots of polling stations and people counting voting slips inside the local leisure centre.

Part Two:
Continues with Mayor's election at the Annual Meeting of Pendle Council, as councillors give speeches and offer proposals. People prepare food and set up bric-a-brac stalls for the Mayoress's Appel Fund Garden Party. Ends with leaders of Asian communities, Pakistani representatives and MPs gathered at the Civic Theatre in Nelson to mark Pakistan Independence Day celebrations.
