Description

A fictional account of one evening in the life of Zulfi, a disaffected youth. The film explores how young Mirpuri men in Coppice feel marginalised by the older generation and live under the constant threat of racial violence. It begins with scenes dramatizing the break down of communication within Zulfi's family and throughout the wider community. During the course of the evening Zulfi meets with devout Muslims and substance abusers, before having to run for his life from drug dealers. Zulfi's dad is forced to confront his son's problems during a fantasy sequence, when he sees Zulfi being chased in real time on a video at home. This device leads to their reconciliation and concludes the film. Subtitles are used throughout when Punjabi is spoken.
