Description

This film opens with a sequence titled 'Welcome Blue Skies', which documents Dempsey family life in spring, summer and autumn. In spring we see Mrs Dempsey putting her hot water bottle away in a drawer, getting out her spring dresses and doing the spring cleaning. There are shots of spring flowers and lambs in a field. We see the Dempsey boys out fishing and sat picking the flowers in a field of bluebells. In the summer we see the family on holiday in Southport where they visit a fairground and a boating lake. They also visit the 1954 Lytham St. Anne's Agriculture and Horticultural Show. Here we see dog shows, show jumping and a flower show amongst other things. In the autumn we see shots of flowers, blackberry bushes and apple trees. The boys are indoors now, painting and putting photographs in albums. Mrs Dempsey fills the hot water bottle from the kettle. We then see further scenes titled 'Bait for an Archer'. The boys are out in the fields with their bows and arrows pretending to stalk their prey, with jokey captions and a cartoon lion edited in.
