Description

Scenes from the 1952 Manchester Grammar School trek in the Dauphiné province of south eastern France. The film opens with scenes of staff and pupils unloading rucksacks from the coach. We see the boys and staff on their trek and at camp where they prepare, cook and distribute food. We also see them washing their clothes and shaving in a river. This all takes place against a backdrop of stunning scenery, there are dramatic shots of the Hautes - Alpes including a glacier. The film ends with scenic views of a mountain town in the distance and then we see the boys visiting the town and there are shots of local men playing boules.
