Description

Family and holiday scenes from the Heyes Family of Mossborough Hall in Rainford, St. Helens. The film opens with scenes of family at home wishing Mr and Mrs Heyes a safe journey. Their trip to Argentina takes place in February 1977. We see the Heyes at the Sheraton Hotel in Buenos Aires, and they show us their view of the city from the hotel window and they point out the River Plate, the main railway station, and the Victoria Memorial. Mr and Mrs Heyes then visit William at the ranch where his is working, the ranch is in a very small village called Christophersen in the province of Santa Fe. Mr Heyes talks to the camera about the area and William tells us about his work on the ranch and models traditional Argentinian clothes. Mr and Mrs Heyes then go on a coach trip around Argentina and they film the sights that they see on their trip, including a local market, historic ruins, a tea plantation and Iguazu Falls. They return to the ranch where William shows us more of the activities that go on there, and then we see William in Buenos Aires with his parents. They are in the swimming pool on the roof of the hotel, they show us their view of Buenos Aires from the roof, including a large cemetery. William returns home on 21 May 1977, a group of family go to Manchester Airport to meet him and William arrives wearing traditional Argentinian dress.
