Description |
The building of a new junior school in the village of Grimsargh, Lancashire. After scenes of the muddy site and building work there are exterior shots of the old school, built in 1809. Pupils and staff watch the last freight train go past the school on 3rd November 1967. The new school nears completion with shots of roofers at work. Scenes from a schoolboy football match in Spring 1968 are followed by footage of the newly-furnished school interior. Children play in the old school yard in its last days before the new school is formally opened on 29th September 1968 with a procession from the local church and a ceremony at the new building. |
