Description

A benefit concert at Manchester University Students' Union for El Salvador, organised by Radio Farabundo Marti, the clandestine El Salvadorian radio station. In this third and final part, Los Awatinas a Bolivian band living in France are performing. Michael Vaughan interprets for the Spanish speaking musicians and explains the meaning of the songs. Towards the end of the concert they play traditional music of the Aymara people of Bolivia. The musicians explain that this is music of the high plains, where there is no separation between people and musicians and they invite someone from the audience to dance with them. Then the whole audience is welcomed to dance. The evening finishes with a raffle as a fund raiser.
