Description |
In this excerpt from a documentary produced by the Workers’ Film Association, we see footage from the women’s rally in Barnsley in South Yorkshire on 12 May 1984 in support of the striking miners. As the dispute went on, it drew in people not previously involved, for example miners’ wives, who began to form support groups and speak out themselves. The demonstration is followed by a packed indoor meeting where NUM leader Arthur Scargill and miner’s wife Lorraine Bowler are amongst those who address the crowd. |
