Description |
Trims from a historical pageant and an event at Thompson Park in Burnley as part of the local Festival of Britain celebrations. The film begins with a series of brief unrelated shots: two men on a perilously-high ladder fixing a union jack, the porch of a house, horses and carriages at the Royal Lancashire Agricultural Show of 1948, a small crowd looking at vintage cars, shoe making in a factory and a cobbled side street (possibly in Burnley town centre). There follows footage of a Burnley pageant played out by characters in historical costume, intercut with shots of the crowd at the Festival of Britain event that includes a guard of honour formed by sea cadets. |
