Description |
A record of life and events in the village of Helmshore during the summer of 1958. It documents the Mayor's Procession, a concert in the Memorial Gardens, the local election, a fire at Carr Lane cottages and the Musbury Tor Mile. The film also looks at working life in the village: a clog maker, haymaking, quarrying and textile research at theT.M.M. building. Children feature throughout the film, playing games, racing go-karts, maypole dancing, and performing in a skiffle band. There is also footage of the local railway station, of pigeon racing and of river pollution caused by the Holden Wood bleach works. |
