Description |
Student documentary looking at food distribution to supermarkets in Britain and how it has moved away from local producers to centralised depots. The main example cited is that of a consignment of carrots - from Preston, a lorry sets off to collect them from Suffolk, they are brought back to Preston to be washed and bagged, before being sent to a supermarket in Ipswich, a round trip of over 550 miles in order to end up 16 miles from where they were harvested. Includes interviews with the supermarkets, the distributors and transport pressure groups. |
