Description

Family scenes from the Heyes Family of Mossborough Hall Farm in Rainford, St. Helens. The film opens with a teenage girl washing a car and then we see an elderly lady walking her dog in the woods. We see building work nearing completion on a bungalow on the family land, just the septic tank is there waiting to be sunk, the date is 21 January 1977. The cattle are in the field nearby eating maize. We then see various family members at home sitting around telling stories. On 26 March 1977, Aunty Nancy is moving house, various family members are present and they speak for the camera. We see the family and friends in the living room having coffees after having a supper party together. We then go to Easter 1977 where we see the Heyes on board Trevor's new boat, Calypso, which is being launched for the first time on Lake Windermere. We see children go-karting in the grounds of the farm. On 1 May 1977, we see Michael Heyes Jackson's christening. The family pose for photos outside the church and then we see them at home giving a speech and toasting the new baby. We then see a welcome home party in the garden for William, who has just been collected from Manchester Airport. There is another garden party at home, this time with some visiting American cousins, who speak for the camera. We see the Heyes at Mr Fishwick's home in Windermere and then the family at home in their living room at Mossborough Hall. They sit and chat. There follow more scenes from the garden, some people play tennis while others sit and watch. We then see a more formal garden party at the Hall. The film ends with a group of men sitting in a field eating, drinking and talking.
