Description |
This film looks at the development of road transport for the movement of large equipment for the power generating industry. New transporter trailers are seen under construction and an air cushion equipment system is demonstrated. The construction and launch of two ships (Aberthaw Fisher and Kingsnorth Fisher) which were specially built to transport large road borne loads. We later see the ships docked at Pomona and the unique method used to load equipment onto the ships. Aboard the ship on it's journey we see shots of Liverpool in the distance. Once the ship has docked at Barry the equipment is offloaded and taken to the new power station site. The sister ship, the Kingsnorth Fisher, carried her first load from Pomona dock to Kingsnorth Fisher where a special jetty was built. This allowed the load to be driven off the ship straight into the power station. The film concludes by stating why they feel the only way the growing demand for power can be met is to build more power stations. |
