Description |
Hilda makes a cake and decorates the tree, they exchange presents and eat Christmas dinner. They take gifts to Ada and Lily Ray at 11 Fifth Avenue and travel along a snow covered A34 to Wilmslow as Mr Garner describes the January 1963 weather in detail. They clear snow from outside their house and thaw out taps at the shop in Wilmslow. They visit Bathpool Park, Kidsgrove on another snowy day. In Ashbourne they watch the annual Shrovetide, a mass participation street football game with few rules. They visit Uncle John and Aunt Marjorie in Llandudno and go to Lake Vyrnwy, Nefyn, Aberdaron, Whistling Sands, Beaumaris, Penmon Point, the Lledr Valley and Rhyl. |
