Description |
This is a film about the introduction of the 'bedroom tax' in 2013. Throughout the film there are acted scenes that show a man's journey from receiving a letter informing him that he has to pay the extra tax, to finding his way to the organisations that could advise him and help him appeal against it. There are interviews with people who have been affected by the new tax and from the people who are there to advise them. We hear from Joe Halewood, a housing consultant who is central to the anti bedroom tax campaign. We also meet the volunteers at The Peacock Surgery. They are based in the Peacock pub and their organisation is funded by the landlady, who is also interviewed. They are there to give advice about the tax, and we see them do this in an acted scene. We then meet attendees at the Dingle Combat the Bedroom Tax meeting which takes place at Mount Carmel Parish Club in Toxteth. They are interviewed about how the tax has affected them. Finally we see an anti bedroom tax protest that takes place on 27th July 2013 in the centre of Liverpool. |
