Description

Film looking at Manchester's past and present development. Features shots of impressive buildings including the Town Hall as well as work houses. A commentary describes both the prosperity and poverty in Victorian Manchester. Continues with footage of Manchester in the 1970s including shots of derelict houses, wasteland and new flats. The commentary considers whether the flats provide a satisfactory answer to housing problems.
