Description

Henry Beasley, Principal Environmental Health Officer for Manchester City Council talks about the cockroach infestation in the tower block of flats at Gretney Walk, Hulme, Manchester. He mentions the survey that was conducted and the joint meetings between the Tenants' Association, Housing Department, Direct Works and Environmental Works, how the specification for the work was undertaken and the work done.
Then Albert Grooms, Principal Environmental Health Officer, Asbestos Unit, speaks about the complications relating to the cockroach treatment because of the need to avoid drilling into asbestos which could be drawn into the ventilation systems and then be a hazard to tenants.
