Description

This film follows the process of making pyramid handkerchiefs at the Tootal Hemming Works, Manchester. There are titles describing each stage of the process. The process begins with pieces of cloth being checked and counted on receipt and then cut to size. We then see hem stitching and the cloth being stitched around the edge automatically and manually by machinists. In the finishing room we see the cloths being damped and smoothed. They are then folded and examined for faults and ironed before labels are attached to them. The finished products are then boxed and parcelled for dispatch.
