Description

The raw cotton arrives at the mill and the various manufacturing processes begin including carding, spinning and coning to produce a finished thread. Next the thread is woven into fabric material and the cloth is inspected. A fashion show to a large group of spectators shows off the latest fashions followed by a women putting on a gramaphone record. At the India Mills in Darwen we see women working at various spinning machines and a group shot of all the mill girls. The film ends with a selection of dress fabrics by John Thompson Ltd.
