Description

Student production looking at the Ritz club in Manchester, contrasting memories of the venue as a dance hall with its modern main use as a nightclub. Patrons and staff describe the importance it has, and used to have, in people's lives and consider the differences in outlook and lifestyle between the generations who have been there. DJs and musicians ponder whether the building has a future within a city centre that is being filled with modern apartments. Includes contributions from DJs John Gannon and Dave Haslam, Andy Rourke (The Smiths), John Robb and bandleader Phil Moss.

[Catalogued as part of 'Revitalising the Regions' - a Screen Heritage UK project, 2011]
