Description |
The film opens on Tom Jarman playing golf at Bury Golf club. Slow motion shots of him taking a swing are intercut with slow motion shots of builders knocking down a brick wall with sledgehammers. Next we see C. E. Hardman (runner up in the English Amateur Championship 1930) followed by W.B. Mather playing golf. On the 4th of October 1942, an exhibition match was held at Bury Golf Club in aid of the Lord Mayor of London's Air Raid Distress Fund. Seen taking part were golfers Bill Shankland and captain of the Ryder cup team, Charles Whitcombe. The 1920 Open Championship winner, George Duncan can also be seen participating as well as Archie Compston. The film ends with shots of people enjoying refreshments. |
