Description

A reception at Manchester Town Hall for Nicaraguan band, 'Heroes and Martyrs', with a welcome by an official from Manchester City Council who talks about the friendship agreement with Puerto Cabazis, Nicaragua and the European Union's opposition to President Reagan's policies in Central America. He presents the shield of the City of Manchester to the group leader who responds with greetings from Nicaragua and the Agricultural Workers' Union of which they are members. He talks about the economic sanctions which began this month, causing great social and economic problems. Another person speaks on behalf of the Nicaragua Solidarity Campaign and makes parallels between the cuts being suffered in Manchester and attacks on Nicaragua by USA. Scenes from a reception with people socialising.
