Description

A Granada Television documentary which focuses on a sale of L. S. Lowry's paintings in London, his domestic life in Mottram in Longdendale and preoccupation with mortality. Opens with scenes of Lowry playing football with children, tallying the value of his art and working at his home The Elms. Lowry then entertains an autograph-hunting father and daughter before walking around Manchester city centre, reminiscing how it used to be. He is shown strolling through Piccadilly Gardens, speculating on how the vagrants there fell on hard times and then reflects on mortality beside graves in a cemetery. Ends with his visit to the Leferre Gallery to promote the sale of his work and his relaxing back at home again.
