Description

The film begins with a marching band in the town centre, and Princess Margaret and the Mayor of Carlisle reviewing army ranks, watched by crowds of onlookers. After this, the princess is seen arriving at the pageant field, where children put on a dancing display and events from the town’s long history are re-enacted by local people in historical dress, including that of Romans, Vikings and Victorians. The reel ends with the departure of the royal visitor.
