Description

Record of an event to mark King George V's Silver Jubilee, taking place at the municipal exhibition ground off Princess Road in Manchester on May 6th 1935 . Crowds gather to watch as dignitaries arrive, including Chief Constable John Maxwell, Lord Mayor Alderman Woollam and Lord Derby the Lord Lieutenant of Lancashire. The event features troop inspections, field guns firing a royal salute, Lord Derby meeting war veterans and a great march past. After Lord Derby's departure there is footage of a youth gymnastic display and the film ends with a comic performance by boys in fancy dress larking around with a pantomime horse.
