Description

Scenes showing how Middlewich celebrated the Coronation of King George VI on 12 May 1937. There are views of the street decorations, and of the Morning Procession to the Parish Church. Another procession is held in the afternoon, followed by a sports day, featuring egg and spoon, sack and obstacle races, as well as a gymnastics display. In the evening there is a bonfire and fireworks. The following day, the elderly are seen leaving the Alhambra cinema, and the local schools after having tea. Local children and pensioners show off the gifts they received to commemorate the Coronation Day.
