Description |
Dedication of the Spanish Civil War International Brigades' Memorial at Manchester Town Hall in 1983. A welcome for Cllr Mike Hynes, who explains that 46 years ago today, many IBers went to Jarama in Spain. He recognises the contribution of the IBers as the vanguard of those fighting fascism, and the importance of Manchester as the capital of the working class. He talks about how this is not a memorial of the past but an inspiration for the future. An IBer speaks about Spain and messages of congratulations are read out to the guests. |
