Description |
Film of Peter Sykes' business trip to America in December 1947 (family business was engineering). He is seen on deck with colleagues on the Queen Mary, before they arrive in New York. General views of the city, as well as the interior of a supermarket. Brief shots of Pennsylvania and an Amish community as well as a visit to Niagara Falls. There are views of Washington DC including the White House, the military cemetery at Arlington and George Washington's house at Mount Vernon. A Christmas parade in New York is seen, before they set sail for home on the liner Mauretania. |
