Description

After shots of the town centre and Churchtown, a look at the local shrimping industry. Local historian and shrimper Charles Abram discusses how methods have changed and demonstrates hand-netting with his son Philip. We see tractors used by Billy Wignall, shrimping rigs used by Gerald Rimmer, and also shrimping using horse and cart, which was a method used after boats and before tractors. Abrams demonstrates riddling, washing and boiling and Christine and Silvia demonstrate picking, The film is interspersed with black and white photos and old newspaper cuttings.
