Description

Film looking at the town of Stockport, famous for its beer, hat-making and brass bands. There are views of the town centre and shops, and local resident George Nicol explains why he chose to move to Stockport 40 years ago. St Mary's Parish church is featured, as well as footage of the Mayoral Sunday procession through the town. An open day at Daw Bank bus depot is followed by scenes at the annual taxi drivers' charity pram race. A local resident gives his opinion of the M63 motorway and views of the town hall, Stockport market and the Merseyway shopping precinct conclude.
