Scenes from Yealand Manor School showing a man mending the driveway, part of a tree planting ceremony to commemorate 250th anniversary of Yealand Meeting House and a short sequence with children dressed as fairies during a school play. Continues with colour footage of music teacher Arthur Percival walking along with a bandaged foot, evacuee children posing for the camera and playing in the gardens. Includes shots of pigs in a yard and an unidentified farmer. Black and white footage shows Jean Inebruit playing with children in the Manor grounds, close ups of local artist Elizabeth Brockbank and school Matron Annie Holt. More colour scenes follow, including John Robson and the filmmaker's daughter Ann Foulds playing on the grass, tomatoes growing in a greenhouse children paddling in a swimming pool. Ends with children performing in a school play adaption of A Midsummer Night's Dream. |
