Description

Footage of a rally in Albert Square, Manchester, following the Democracy Day March. Rob Whitworth from NUT, representing the Education Unions, addresses the protesters about the impact of the cuts on education. He is followed by a speaker who talks against the racist policies of the Thatcher Government and the broad alliance of groups who are under threat of racist laws and immigration policies. He cites the imminent deportation of Mohammed Indris and the campaign against this.
Bob Litherland (?) follows and speaks about Manchester as one of the most deprived areas in the country and how the Tories are moving masses of money from the public to the private sector. He talks about GCHQ's denial of union rights. Clapping and cheering from the demonstrators. The fourth speaker is a miner from NUM and the fifth speaker thanks everyone for attending.
