Description |
The Vickers Centenary Gala on 10th June 1967, held at Vickers Sports Club in Hawcoat Park in Barrow begins with two men sat on a pole pillow fighting above a pool of water. A gymnastic team tumbling and trampolining in front of a large crowd of spectators. Chefs basting and cutting an ox roast as people queue to be fed. Match action from a ladies' football match between the engineers and shipbuilders. Majorettes dance with pom-poms followed by a tug-of-war, then underexposed footage of couples dancing to a band. After a firework display we have a procession led by Highland pipers through the streets of Barrow to and from a large church. The film ends with a parachute display team landing onto the sports ground. |
