Description |
An introduction to The Lowry on Salford Quays, an arts complex of galleries and a theatre, built on a site which used to be part of the docks. It opened in 2000 and has since become a popular venue attracting national and international performers and exhibitions. This film provides information about the design of the building - the architecture, internal features, and colour scheme, while visitors supply their own thoughts and opinions. The centre is named after the artist L.S. Lowry, famous for his paintings of industrial northern landscapes, particularly the people who live in them. A selection of Lowry’s work is on permanent display in the building, and the film includes archive footage of the artist at work. |
