Description

A Physical Education lesson at Abel Street School in Burnley, and a school trip to a coal mine (believed to be Bank Hall Pit). Boys wearing shorts exercise in the school playground as factory chimneys belch smoke in the background. The pupils perform forward and backward rolls, stretches, star jumps and vaults with the assistance of the teacher. Schoolboys are then seen visiting a coal mine, collecting equipment and donning helmets before entering the mine. The film ends with a shot of a moving pit wheel.
