Description

Short documentary film about Belle Vue Zoological Gardens in Manchester, using contemporary interviews and archival footage. Local people reminiscence about the park's heyday and its eventual closure. The film includes footage of coaches arriving at Belle Vue, the park's steam train, the circus, rides including the Bobs roller coaster, ballroom dancing, wrestling and animals at the zoo including Maude the tigon. Also includes memories of staff members, including Phil Fernandez, the elephant keeper, and Matt Kelly, head zookeeper.
