Description

Young people from Greater Manchester Young Peoples' Group who are in the care of Social Services across Greater Manchester met to write, produce, shoot and edit this film about the new Children Act 1989. They made the film for two reasons: firstly to let people know that young people 'in care' are responsible individuals and not how they are portrayed in the media, and secondly to share their experience of being 'in care'.
The film is presented in five parts: 1. Your right to information, 2. Your right to be Consulted, 3. Your right to have a Voice, 4. Your right to Complain, 5. Your aftercare rights. The young people enact various incidents and activities which embody the issue under discussion.

[Catalogued as part of 'Revitalising the Regions' a Screen Heritage UK project, 2011]
