Description

A film produced for GMPTE to demonstrate the success of Metrolink since it was officially opened by the Queen on 17th July 1992. We see trams in operation across the Metrolink network. We see passengers on board trams, and boarding and alighting at various stations. We follow passengers on their journeys as a demonstration of how Metrolink is used by the residents of Greater Manchester for work and leisure. We learn about the extension of the Metrolink system to Salford Quays and Eccles and we see Prime Minister Tony Blair opening the new line at Salford Quays and later Bev Hughes MP opening the extension to Eccles. The commentary tells us how successful Metrolink has been and tells us of the benefits it has brought to the residents of Greater Manchester. We are told of the plans for the expansion of the Metrolink system in the future to other parts of the region.
