Scenes of the various processes of cotton manufacture. A train delivers the cotton and it is loaded onto lorries; inside the mill the bales of cotton are opened. The cotton goes through machines for loosening and cleaning, then is carded and drawn by machine. Shots of spinning and doffing, and fixing the thread for weaving; both men and women tend the machines. A panning shot around the machine room, then general shots of the mills taken from the railway. Shot of a cotton warehouse, then of horse-drawn carts coming and going at the mill gateway.
