Description

The story of St Matthew's primary school in Stretford. The film opens with scenes of school children playing in the school playground. Later, the children take part in a various races such as running and egg and spoon races. During a school trip to Heaton Park, the children play and roll down grassy hills, hire boats and play football. During the gala day, two men perform a judo demonstration. We see the crowning of the new Rose Queen followed by maypole dancing. The children go on a river cruise around Liverpool. In Lyme Park, the children play in the playground. The film cuts to the next year's gala day and crowning of the next Rose Queen, Pamela Jones. The film jumps to the next Rose Queen day. We see a procession of the new Rose Queen, Ann Williamson. The ceremony includes special guests Bobby Charlton and his wife Norma.
